what would you do?
Pay off my mortgage, my hubby's car, our other debt, buy nice stuff for my family, invest/save a lot of it, and give myself a nice allowance to go shopping. Maybe hire Clinton and Stacy to go shopping with me for a new wardrobe. Cuz if I were a millioinare, I wouldn't dress like this.
no sweet pea id buy a house too:P.. and travel the world, and give money to my family, then id put the rest in the bank like 100$ or something lol
lol sweet pea, I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows that song.
Seriously, I'd pay for my sister's college, give some to my parents, buy a small house (because a bigger one is easily WAY over a million where I live), and bank the rest and use the interest from it as extra income. Either that or pay off half the house up front, then bank even more and make house payments off the interest. Either way.
take a trip around the world with my girlfriend and half it with her and give the rest to a good charity for battered and abused women and children.
take care of my mom's financial problems so I'll have mental peace, finish remodeling my home and keep living the way we do now.
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner
But we would eat Kraft Dinner
Of course we would, we'd just eat more
And buy really expensive ketchups with it!

Well - right off the top I'd pay the taxes - so your left with what? about $600,000?
With the rest I would:
Pay off all of our debts
Buy myself a Mustang
Go to Italy
Put the rest away for retirement
Make a few home improvements that are on my to-do list, go on a vacation and put the rest in the bank to use to pay my mortgage. I wouldn't pay it off completely for tax purposes.
pay off my student loans
( buy my parents a beautiful house, travel as much as i can
momof3. homes in my area are hella expensive. i can't even think about taking that money after taxes and buying a home with that.
Where I live they used to be hella cheap. You could get a four bedroom 2500 sq ft house for about 170,000. NOw they're about 450,000 if your lucky. We bought our 3bedroom house in 1999 for 74,000, now it's worth about 300000.
motherof3 - nice! We've appreciated quite a bit also, but not that good.
Houses in my neighborhood are going for about $250,000 (3 bedroom - 2 bath).
houses here are expensive , around 800,000$, 200,000KD it kills here everything is soo damn expensive!
I would pay off my credit card, my fiance's and mines cars...then put it towards a house and lots of new baby furniture and baby clothes!! buy some clothes for me...do a lil pampering and plan a lil vacation to relax before i pop this baby out in the end of december!
~*I heard your heartbeat, it took away my fear*~
I'd pay off my bills, maybe buy a slightly larger house since we don't have much space. Get my hubby his car kit since he's been wanting to build his own car. Pay off the mortgages on our parents' homes. Set most of it aside for the boys in whatever way will earn them the most interest.
i wouldnt really be able to buy something i really want.. its priceless.. so i dont see a point in a million dollar.. i would pay my loans and give away the rest to charity or to my parents/relatives!
i would pay off my house and bills, as well as my moms...open accounts for my niece and nephews....put the rest in a cd (certificate of deposit)
Put it in the bank and get a lot of interest? Does that even work? I don't know a lot about banks and finances, haha.
set my whole family up, and then travel the world, and of course i would help the poor in some way , and help some of my closest dearest friends
buy myself a nice house, well isolated in terms of noise... my neighbour set up a sound studio above my head (and believe me, our building is so noisy!)and there's nothing I can do about it!
...
the rest I will put into a savings account. just in case... I will also be on the lookout for a worthy charity I suppose.
when my husband and i were first dating we were out with the couple that introduced us and this question came up. my (now) husband and my girlfriend said they would build their companies up/expand and my girlfriends dh said he would start a company. they each had very specific plans on how they would go about things. i was like "i'd quit my job and dick around till the money ran out. travel, play, pretty much nothing". they were all shocked and thought i was a freak. "what would you do when the money runs out!?" now i have too many responsibilities to do anything but put the money into retirement and college funds. but if i were single, i'd so still take my original choice.
a million isn't even that much nowadays!! everything is sooo damn expensive that would go pretty quick to me!!
I remember my mom saying that when I found out my grandpa had that kind of money. I was like, yeah right, they need to get to spoiling me!

... Buy you a K Car. A nice reliant automobile.
Sorry, I love that song.
